China became the first source of U.S. textile imports According to a report from major US transporters issued by the US Department of Customs, in the first seven months of 2013, the value of US textile and apparel imports was US$ 59.014 billion, a year-on-year increase of 3.11%. Among them, clothing imports amounted to 44.701 billion US dollars, an increase of 3.59%; non-clothing textile imports amounted to 14.313 billion US dollars, an increase of 1.63%.

From January to July, Vietnam exported USD 4.954 billion U.S. textiles, a year-on-year increase of 13.48%, and Bangladesh exported US 3.103 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 9.06% year-on-year. In the first seven months, China still maintained its position as the largest textile importing country in the United States. The amount of textiles imported from China by the United States reached US$22.346 billion, an increase of 1.82% year-on-year.

Among the top five sources of U.S. textile imports, India and Indonesia are also included. During the same period, the United States imported US$3.736 billion in Indian textiles, which was a year-on-year increase of 4%. Imports of Indonesian textiles reached US$3.249 billion, an increase of 3.57% over the same period last year. In addition, US imports of ASEAN textiles amounted to US$11.496 billion, up by 7.04% year-on-year; textiles imported from sub-Saharan countries totaled US$534 million; textiles imported from 28 EU countries reached US$2.277 billion, an increase of 4.73% year-on-year; and textiles imported from North American Free Trade Zone countries 34.89 Billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 1.53%.
