Indonesia's exports to China decreased

The Central Bureau of Statistics of Indonesia announced on June 2 the statistics of Indonesia’s foreign trade in April 2014. In April, Indonesia’s foreign trade volume totaled 30.55 billion U.S. dollars, which was a year-on-year decrease of 2.16% and a growth of 2.69% from the previous quarter. Among them, the export value was US$14.294 billion, which was a year-on-year decrease of 3.16%, a decrease of 5.92% compared with the previous period; the import value was US$16.256 billion, which was a year-on-year decrease of 1.26% and a growth of 11.93% compared to the previous period. The trade deficit was US$1.962 billion. From January to April, Indonesia’s foreign trade totaled 118.08 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 3.44%. Among them, the export value was US$58.593 billion, which was a year-on-year decrease of 2.63%; the import value was US$59.387 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 4.23%, and the trade deficit was US$894 million. According to non-oil and gas products (accounting for about 80% of Indonesia's total foreign trade), Indonesia's total trade volume with China in January-April was US$16.216 billion, an increase of 1.95% year-on-year. Of which, the exports were US$6.24 billion, accounting for 12.90% of Indonesia's total non-oil and gas products exports, down 9.25% year-on-year; imports from China amounted to US$10.012 billion, accounting for 22.35% of Indonesia's total non-oil and gas products imports, a year-on-year increase of 10.39%, and a trade deficit of US$3.808 billion. China is the largest exporter and importer of non-oil and gas products in Indonesia, and continues to be the largest trading partner of non-oil and gas products in Indonesia. Japan and the United States are ranked second and third respectively.
