EU Adjusts Apparel Material Accessories to Strengthen Implementation of New Standards

According to the Nanjing Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, the EU will formally adjust the nickel content standards for metal parts and accessories in textiles and clothing since March. The new standard is 10 times stricter than the old standard.

According to inspection and quarantine officials, since March 2013, EU member states will adopt new standards for the nickel content of metal parts and accessories in textiles and clothing. Compared with the old standard, the new standard has a strict specification of nickel content of 10 times.

Recently, the Nanjing Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has advanced in-depth information on new regulations for related companies, and reminded foreign trade companies, manufacturers and related organizations to strictly control the quality of their products, and stepped up testing of samples in accordance with the new standards during the transitional period.

Manufacturers should adjust the process as soon as possible, using raw materials that do not contain nickel materials; trade and manufacturing companies should pay attention to avoid trade risks in the transition period after the implementation of new standards.
